As first reported March 30 by Bisnow, BIO has signed a lease on a nearly 61,000 square foot space in a 13-story, newly renovated building at 1201 New York Ave., four blocks from the White House.
"The new BIO headquarters will serve as an inspiration for the future of innovation and our industries, while providing our members with the comforts and experience of home while in Washington," BIO Chief Operating Officer Shaye Mandle said in a statement.
BIO currently occupies 67,000 square feet on Maryland Ave., in the Southwest Waterfront area.
The new location is across from CityCenterDC, an upscale residential, retail and restaurant district, and three blocks from the Metro Center station.
The renovations to the New York Avenue building include floor-to-ceiling glass windows, high ceilings and expansive views, commercial real estate services firm CBRE said in a release. Amenities include a large conference center on the roof connecting to multiple terraces, an outdoor bar and game room and a large, state-of-the-art fitness center, the firm said.
